THE OPPORTUNITY

Covidence is seeking a Financial Accountant/Analyst to join our Finance team and report to our Head of Finance.

This is a newly created role. The finance function is currently managed by our Head of Finance with the support of an outsourced finance team but we recognise the need to build a robust team internally to better support Covidence's ongoing growth. You will be the first hire in the team and will play a pivotal role in managing the core finance functions and supporting initiatives to improve our core finance/reporting processes. The role is hands on, diverse and your duties will be varied.

Working closely with the Head of Finance, you’ll get to:

  • Manage group accounts, payroll, AR and AP
  • Deliver monthly reports to management including analysis of income & expenditure and variance analysis
  • Prepare the annual financial report for the consolidated group and manage the audit process
  • Create financial models for budgets, forecasts, and cash flow
  • Manage and review organisational performance & SaaS metrics
  • Manage external reporting schedule e.g investors, ACNC etc
  • Manage statutory obligations for the consolidated group e.g FBT, BAS/VAT, tax return, work cover, ACNC etc
  • Liaise with external professional advisers e.g tax, accounting, legal, payroll, audit etc
  • Assist with projects relating to debt and grant funding
  • Identify areas of improvement and efficiencies across the company
  • Work on projects to automate and streamline financial/reporting processes
  • Contribute to a robust finance function by assisting with the development of policies and procedures

What you bring:

  • Robust experience in financial accounting with a strong understanding of transactional processing and month end processes for consolidated group
  • Strong accounting standards knowledge and previous experience in statutory reporting and auditing
  • Sound financial analytical/modelling skills and understanding of management reporting
  • Self starter with excellent communication skills and a love of problem solving
  • Flexibility to adjust to changes and tight deadlines
  • Passion for learning
  • Willingness to challenge existing practices and identify improvements
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel including pivot tables, modelling, and data manipulation (we're open to candidates with mid to senior level experience)
  • Advanced knowledge of Xero
